Orange France and Scanbuy Partner to Power Flashcode Mobile Barcode Service

Barcelona, SPAIN – Feb. 14, 2011—Scanbuy, Inc. (www.scanbuy.com), the global leader in mobile barcode solutions, today announced that it has partnered with Orange France (www.orange.com), one of the world’s leading telecommunications operators, to power Flashcode, a mobile barcode service that will allow marketers in France to create, edit, manage and generate a very rich set of analytics about their mobile barcodes through Scanbuy’s carrier grade self-managed platform. The service includes an application for all major mobile phones that reads all standard code formats including Datamatrix, QR Code, EzCode and UPC/EAN, as well as provides a “Mobile Web Edition” feature that can be used to generate mobile formatted websites for businesses.

“We’re excited to announce this partnership with Orange France as it fits perfectly with our 2011 focus on global expansion,” said Mike Wehrs, CEO and President of Scanbuy. “With the 1600% increase in global scans last year, more and more people use scanning for everything from getting product reviews to obtaining exclusive offers. Partnering with a European telecom leader like Orange France brings the benefits of our scanning technology to a broader audience and helps us continue our growth as the mobile barcode solutions leader.”

As part of the push for expansion into international markets, Scanbuy plans to open a local office in France and manage the France ScanLife business operations from there. Last year, Orange was one of three mobile operators in Spain to successfully launch the service, locally called Bidi. Scanbuy has launched locally in five markets in multiple regions, and receives scans from over 30 different countries every day.

“Like most other countries, we’ve seen the demand for mobile barcodes growing very quickly from both marketers and users,” said Bruno Cantegrel, Contactless product manager at Orange France. “Scanbuy has proven their services can be deployed in a scalable way in other countries and we look forward to making Flashcode the best mobile barcode service available in France.”

Scanbuy will be demonstrating their scanning technology at Mobile World Congress February 14-17, 2011 in Barcelona.
