(City), Brazil – September 15, 2011 – Scanbuy, Inc., (www.scanbuy.com), the global leader in mobile barcode solutions, announced today that it has reached an agreement to expand its services in Latin America through a partnership with Vivo (Telefonica Group) to promote the ScanLife solution to tens of millions of consumers and thousands of business customers.
“This presented a fantastic opportunity for Scanbuy to quickly take a leadership position in the Brazilian market and grow our footprint in Latin America,” said Mike Wehrs, CEO and President of Scanbuy. “Through this partnership, we can quickly build awareness among Brazilian consumers and businesses who want an easy way to communicate from physical media. With scans being processed on our system from more than 125 countries, we are confident that marketers in Brazil will also see powerful results by using our code management and tracking solution.”
With Scanbuy’s ScanLife platform, businesses in Brazil can now quickly create, manage and track a variety of barcode formats, including interoperable quick response (QR) codes, to make it fast and convenient for consumers to get more information about their products. Users simply scan the code with a smartphone application like ScanLife or other standard QR Code readers, and the platform delivers relevant content, such as demo videos, promotions, email opt-ins and more. In addition, ScanLife enables users without a Smartphone to view the content by sending a standard picture of the code by email or SMS; reaching virtually any user with a camera enabled device.
As part of the partnership with Vivo, the largest mobile operator in Brazil will be promoting the mobile app, branded Leitor Vivo, to millions and it will be preloaded into a variety of compatible devices. This will bring immediate exposure to jumpstart adoption for businesses. In addition, the operator will offer 2D barcode management services to its customers, from small businesses to large enterprise.
QR Codes are already being used in a variety of marketing campaigns to promote products, services and mobile barcode adoption throughout Brazil. For example, codes are being printed on millions of billing envelopes so the customer can simply scan, and opt-in for services.
“We are pleased to be working with Scanbuy as we introduce mobile barcodes to Brazil, our subscribers will experience this intuitive technology first hand by scanning the codes that appear on our marketing materials. Several promotions will be placed in magazine ads and at events to encourage mainstream use of this interactive digital experience.” said Alexandre Fernandes, Head of Products and Sales of Vivo.
This marks another milestone in Scanbuy’s global expansion, and the company has appointed Bernardo Abecasis as Country Manager to oversee operations in Brazil and manage a local team. ScanLife is already available in a number of other Latin America markets including Argentina, Chile and Mexico.
