ScanLife was featured in an article about mobile commerce in this Saturday's New York Times. In fact, the article was on the cover of the A section, and lead with Norma Kamali's use of ScanLife. We had reported before that the famed designer is using codes throughout her store to link shoppers to information, and give them a chance to win merchandise. Soon, even window shoppers can scan the code to purchase items in the store and ship it home - even if the store is closed!

Here are a couple new examples of how brands are using ScanLife in Mexico (locally called Codigo Ideas). Telcel, the largest carrier in Mexico, launched the service there at the beginning of 2009, and they have since pre-loaded about 15 phones with the software - with many more to come. The Danish Rail in Copenhagen has taken their use of ScanLife to the next level. Over the month of December, they will be placing EZcodes on posters, flyers, and newspaper ads which give people a chance to win a different prize each day. By scanning the code, the user simply enters their mobile number to find out if they have won a wide variety of prizes from a chocolate bar to a bike to a Mini Cooper loaner for a month! Take a look at this new TV commercial from Claro Chile which is introducing their new 2D barcode service called Codigo Claro. As you will see, it very clearly shows how a simple 2D code (EZcode) can unlock a ton of great information and content - from anywhere... A few new projects have launched which deliver on the last area - a chance to win. Using a code to enter a sweepstakes is pretty compelling because someone can enter their email or phone number very easily on a mobile phone, so they don't have to run back to a PC or hope they remember the URL later.
